We met some friends at the Butterfly Pavilion today.  In the four years we have lived here this was our first trip.  It was lots of fun.  Keith managed the spiders and I took the starfish.

Grandma's Visit

My mom was visiting and she was so sweet to pick us up a child's table and chairs from Ikea and haul it out here.  Tiny certainly seems to like it.   We also went to the grand reopening  of Tomorrow's Heirlooms  and got a very cool balloon butterfly.

Cooking

We had a fun and relaxing weekend.  Becky and I even managed to make it down to the Fancy Tiger sale :)  Tiny is enjoying her baking set and even got some practice cooking with Mommy.

Weekend Whirlwind

We were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our guests on Friday (my stepmother, Mie, and sister, Anneke),  when I noticed our heat hadn't come on yet.  To sum it up our furnace ended up needing to be replaced but they wouldn't be installing the new one until Saturday.  Mie and Anneke were great sports about the less than balmy temps in the house and we managed to have a great afternoon.  Tiny was intrigued to find out what was in the box.  I was thrilled that it is a vintage bread maker, crank style,  along with some fabulous books and fun alphabet soaps :)

Tiny roped Auntie Ani into reading some stories toot sweet. 

Saturday,  Keith was such a sweetie and stayed home with the furnace guys...all day while the girls headed off to the zoo.  Auntie Ani pointing out the monkeys,  chillin' with Auntie Mie, and making new friends (In an unprecedented act, Tiny just went over and took this adorable boy's hand).

Sunday, we made bucket bread.  Lots of fun and very yummy.  We made two loaves into cinnamon raisin bread and left one as a sandwich loaf.  Check out the cool bucket.    

 

 

We had lots of playtime, read a zillion stories and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.  Hopefully we'll be able to get together again soon:)

 

 

16 months

I still can't believe it!  You amaze me everyday.  We love you, sweetie!

Brrrrrrr

We got hit with another blast of 'Arctic air' and it was too cold to go outside and play so we brought some snow inside.

Grillin' Out

We wanted to take full advantage of the lovely Saturday, so Keith grilled up some steaks.  YUMMMMM!  Tiny really enjoyed hers and she also learned how to toast (see the sippy cup?).

Snail's Trail

I finally finished up this quilt for Tiny on New Year's Day.  She has been eyeing it since the piecing was completed last spring.  I was nervous to quilt and bind it so it languished a bit.  I am pretty pleased with my first attempt at free motion quilting.

First Haircut

Someone has had hair in her eyes for a while and just won't tolerate any kind of clip.  We only got a few snips in and then she was much more content to watch me get my haircut.

A bit of overkill

Just after the first of the year,  I ordered a calendar and it arrived in a pretty large box with quite the length of packing material.  We had lots of fun, can you tell?

What do I do on a cool summer day?

Make cookies with my daughter, of course. She's not quite old enough to eat them but she enjoys the process and I'm sure her dad will be happy to eat her share.

Fairy Godmother

The last couple of days we have had the pleasure of having my godmother and her husband visit.  They were coming to the area for a wedding and came out a bit early to squeeze in a visit.  It has been quite some time since I've seen them and Keith had never met them.  We had a lovely time visiting and catching up.  Hopefully it won't be another decade before we get to do it again!!!   

Playdate at the park

Tiny and I met some friends yesterday at our local park.  Keith had a few minutes and was able to join us for lunch.  He picked up some subs for Shino and I and came by to see his little girl.

First Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Sweetie! We had a very lazy day.  Keith and I enjoyed a waffle breakfast during nap time and then he had some help opening his presents.   This afternoon we played in the backyard in our sandbox (rolled oats in a plastic tub).   

Vacation Recap Part 2

After our visit with my mom we headed up to the UP (upper peninsula of Michigan) to introduce Tiny to her Great Grandmother. We had such a relaxing visit and we even got to take a stroll by the lake with Uncle Joe. We were very fortunate to also spend time with my Aunt and Uncle and my cousin and his family. Tiny had lots of fun with the boys and those Mardi Gras beads were a big hit (thanks Becca). It wasn't a very long visit but we enjoyed seeing everyone. 

 

Vacation Recap Part 1

We got back last week from our first trip wit h Tiny. We had such a great time. We began with a visit to my mom's.  My aunt and uncle met us at my mom's anxious to meet their great niece. 

Mom and Aunt Mary went above and beyond setting us up with a room for Tiny complete with the rocking chair from my childhood, a comfy pack n play, and  homemade tote for all of our supplies

We spent lots of time playing on the floor and visiting, visited Midway Village (isn't' the sock monkey great?) and took a walk along the river.   We had such a great visit!    .

A friend of mine came for a visit over the weekend.  Angela is one of my oldest friends and it was such a treat to have her visit.  We were able to catch up,  I showed her how to knit and she taught me some very cool scrap booking techniques.  Our visit went by so quickly but was such fun!  Here are a few of the highlights- Tiny enjoying lunch out on Friday, shopping at the stationary store, and hanging out, concentrating on the knitting, scrap booking.   

Mother's Day

My first official Mother's Day was fantastic! I do have to say every day is Mother's day for me thanks to a fabulous husband and daughter.

Keith was very sweet and brought me donuts (my special request).  Then we headed out for an afternoon at the zoo.  I think everyone else had the same idea as it was one of the first nice weekend days in a month.  Once we found a place to park we had a great time walking around and looking at the animals.  Tiny couldn't stop waving at all the people and seemed to enjoy herself.

Outing in the Park

We took advantage of this lovely day and were fortunate to be able to meet up with a friend and her daughter (and her bear).  Sometimes last minute plans are the best.  Here is Tiny waving hello in her adorable sun hat (thanks Debbie) and lounging on the blanket. Keith stopped by on his way home from work and took a quick turn on the swing. We even saw a cute little woodpecker on our way out.
