For the kick off of our visit with Mom and Terry, we met them up at the Stanley for a night so that we could be front and center at Elkfest. We didn't have to go far to see the elk, there was a herd waiting Saturday morning on the lawn. I did manage to get a bit too close for comfort and ended up scurrying out of the bull's way, but not before I snapped some pictures. After checking out the craft and informational booths at the park and of course stops at the yarn shops we headed out on the Peak to Peak for some spectacular leaf peeping. Having lived in New England and a stone's throw from the Blue Ridge Parkway at various times in my life, I have a pretty high standard for fall colors and I must admit although very different the aspens here were pretty impressive.
